Empower Tip: User Privileges

Empower Tip: User Privileges

Tip #395: User Privileges on the Methods Tab

Tip #395: User Privileges on the Methods Tab

In this tip, we take a closer look at a few of the privileges on the Methods Tab.

Let’s review.

STEP 1

STEP 1

The User privileges found on the Methods tab focus on creating, modifying, deleting, locking, and unlocking methods. These methods include Instrument, Processing, Reporting, Export, Method Set, and Sample Set Method.

STEP 2

STEP 2

For this tip, let’s focus on the highlighted privileges and gain an understanding of what happens when you have these privileges enabled or disabled:

Save Processing Methods

Modify Integration Parameters

Modify Component Times

Modify Component Constants/Default Amounts

Let’s explore scenarios 5 -8 as displayed in Figure 2.

STEP 3

STEP 3

If a User has the Save Processing Methods privilege enabled, then that User can create new Processing Methods and modify existing Processing Methods.

STEP 4

STEP 4

If a User has only the Modify Integration Parameters privileged enabled, then that User can modify parameters on the Integration tab in an existing Processing Method and save those changes.

STEP 5

STEP 5

If the User tries to modify anything else in the Processing Method such as the parameters on the Impurity tab, this User will not be able to make those changes. In this example, everything on the Impurity tab is greyed out.

STEP 6

STEP 6

If a User has only the Modify Component Times privilege enabled, then that User can modify the existing Retention Times and RT Windows on the Component tab in an existing Processing Method and save those changes.

STEP 7

STEP 7

If the User tries to modify anything else in the Processing Method such as the parameters on the Integration tab, this User will not be able to make those changes. In this example, everything on the Integration tab is greyed out.

STEP 8

STEP 8

If a User has only the Modify Component Constants/Default Amounts privilege enabled, then that User can modify the CConst values on the Components tab in an existing Processing Method and save those changes.

STEP 9

STEP 9

Additionally, the User can modify existing Default Amounts on the Default Amounts/Purity tab in an existing Processing Method and save those changes. If the Default Amounts and/or Purity fields are empty this User will not be able to populate those fields. This privilege only allows the modification of existing values.

STEP 10

STEP 10

In conclusion, if a User has the Save Processing Methods privilege enabled that User can create new Processing Methods and modify existing Processing Methods. If the User does not have that privilege enabled, some degree of modification can be allowed by enabling one or more of the other 3 privileges described in the earlier steps.

It’s that easy!
