If the Empower Authentication feature is not enabled, users can sign in to the system as a guest.

To sign in with the Empower Authentication feature not enabled:

  1. From the Alliance iS HPLC system lock screen, swipe up.
A dialog box appears indicating that the Empower Authentication feature is not enabled.
  2. From this dialog:
    • Tap SIGN IN AS GUEST.
    • Tap CANCEL to dismiss the dialog and return to the lock screen.
    • Tap Don't show this dialog again to disable the dialog (optional).
Caution: When the Empower Authentication feature is not enabled, the system may not be considered compliant by your organization. See Using the Alliance iS HPLC system in a regulated environment.
    Notes:
    • All activities and events on the system are logged to the system log, viewable from the touchscreen and console.
    • All activities and events on the system are not logged to the Empower System Audit Trail.
    • In some cases, after the Empower Authentication feature is disabled and a user signs in to the system as a guest, the system may log recordable events as the previously signed-in Empower user. If this happens, sign out of the system (see Signing out of the system) and sign back in to the system again as a guest.
  3. To sign out from the system, tap the user icon at the top of the screen and then tap SIGN OUT.
Note: System users are signed out automatically if the system is inactive for a preset amount of time.
