In this tip, we learn about updates to User and User Types in Empower 3.8.0.
Let’s see how it’s done!
When your Empower password expires, you will now be required to enter your existing password, the new password, and confirm the new password. This is common with anything that is password-protected.
Some Users have multiple User Types associated with their Empower account. For example, a User may collect and process data on one day, then review data on another day requiring two User Types with different sets of privileges. In Configuration Manager, click Users in the tree on the left and there is a new field in the table called Allowed User Types. This makes it easy to see what User Types are associated with a User.
The User Type “Administrator” had several implicit privileges, meaning that some privileges were not listed in the properties of this User Type. Those privileges are now listed in the properties of the User Type so that it can be customized to your needs.
It’s that easy!
