Empower Tip: USP Chapter 621 for Chromatography

In this tip for Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS), we continue our series on the upcoming changes to USP Chapter 621 for Chromatography. In the last tip, we discussed how to comply with USP requirements using your current version of Empower, Tip 302.

In this tip, we will discuss a future version of Empower which will incorporate the revised calculations and their respective names.

Please Note: At the time this tip was released, the most current version of Empower is 3.7.0.

The current version of Empower is 3.7.0 and system suitability calculations as per the Chinese Pharmacopeia were added. The next version of Empower will have the calculations as per the revised USP Chapter 621 and it will have the proper terminology. This new version will maintain all previous calculations for legacy data.

A summary of the proposed new fields and existing fields as well as a comparison to the European, Japanese and Chinese Pharmacopeias are displayed.

The default for the Half Height Multiplier for signal-to-noise calculations will now be 20 for USP and EP.
