Tip #328: Working with multiple versions of a Processing Method

Tip #328: Working with multiple versions of a Processing Method

In this tip for Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS)we will continue our series on Processing Methods. In the last tip, we continued our series on creating Processing Methods and learned how to create a Processing Method for CE (Capillary Electrophoresis) data, Tip 327.

In this tip, we will learn about Processing Method with multiple versions. If we modify a Processing Method multiple times, how can we tell which version of the method was used to generate a Result? Empower does this for you so you do not have to sort it out.

STEP 1

STEP 1

We have two Results that were generated by a Processing Method titled TOW 328. The Processing Method ID is different for the two Results, therefore, there are at least two versions of the Processing Method.

STEP 2:

The first result has a basic Processing Method, i.e., integration, peak names, and System Suitability. When you bring a Result into Review, Empower displays the version of the Processing Method that was used to generate the Result.

STEP 3

STEP 3

The second result has Impurity calculations added.

STEP 4

STEP 4

If you right-click on a Result and select ‘View As Processing Methods’, Empower will navigate to the Methods tab.

STEP 5

STEP 5

The method version and ID are displayed for each result.

STEP 6

STEP 6

If you want to learn more about the differences between the two versions of this method, right-click on the method and select ‘Method Properties’.

STEP 7

STEP 7

Highlight the two versions in the History table and click ‘Differences’.

STEP 8

STEP 8

Version two of the method (on the left) shows that Impurity Processing was enabled.

It’s that easy!

Final Notes

This can be done with either the Pro or QuickStart interface.
