Tip #382: Data Processing: Data Processing Policies

Tip #382: Data Processing: Data Processing Policies

In this tip, we will discuss Data Processing System Policies. These system policies define the type of technique that Empower uses to process data. Each technique uses a unique integration algorithm and, therefore, processes data differently. Remember that you need the Alter System Policies privilege to make any changes to System Policies.

Let’s see how it’s done!

STEP 1

STEP 1

In the Configuration Manager window, select View > System Policies. Click on the Data Processing tab.

STEP 2

STEP 2

In this tip, we will concentrate on Data Processing Policies.

STEP 3

STEP 3

Use v3.0X Style Peak Width and Threshold Determination – this applies to the Traditional algorithm only. If enabled, Peak Width is set by selecting a peak and clicking the Set Processing Method Peak Width tool. Threshold is set by selecting a portion of the baseline and clicking the Set Processing Method Threshold tool.

STEP 4

STEP 4

Use V2.XX Style Retention Time Calculations – this applies to the Traditional algorithm only. If enabled, Retention Time will be determined using the highest point in the peak from the baseline.

STEP 5

STEP 5

Prompt User to Save Manual Changes – if enabled, when a User exits Review, Empower will prompt the User to save any changes made in Review. This could be applying a Method Set to an Injection, creating a calibration curve, and so forth.

STEP 6

STEP 6

Calculate % Deviation of Point From Curve – this applies to calibration curve points and how the %Deviation is calculated.

STEP 7

STEP 7

Enable Empower (1154) Apex Track Manual Integration – this applies to the Apex Track algorithm only. If enabled and you do manual integration, it will work like the original version of Empower. For example, if I manually integrate a pair of fused peaks Empower will drop a line at the valley point. With this policy enabled it will integrate as one peak.

STEP 8

STEP 8

Allow Interactive System Suitability when acquiring in RUN ONLY Mode – if enabled, a User can take advantage of Interactive System Suitability in the RUN ONLY mode. If System Suitability fails it can trigger, for example, Stop on Fault.

It’s that easy!
