Tip #393: User Privileges that impact what can be done in Review (Part 2)

Tip #393: User Privileges that impact what can be done in Review (Part 2)

This week we continue to discuss the impact these three privileges have on what can or cannot be done while working in the Review window. What happens when a user has a combination of some of these privileges?

Let’s review.

STEP 1

STEP 1

The three privileges in question are: View Quantitation Peak Fields in Review, Allow Calibration & Quantitation in Review, and View Numerical and Textual Results in Review.

STEP 2

STEP 2

What are the different combinations of enabling/disabling these privileges? If we call them P1, P2, and P3 in the order listed in Step 1, we have eight different possibilities.

Let’s explore scenarios 1-4 as displayed in Figure 2.

STEP 3

STEP 3

If a user has all three privileges, they will be able to view quantitative fields such as Amount, the Calibrate and Quantitate tools will be available (this is a sample, the Quantitate tool is available) and they will be able to view all numerical and textual peak fields.

STEP 4

STEP 4

If we disable the View Quantitation and Peak Fields in Review privilege, what happens? The User will no longer see fields such as Area, Height, Amount, Concentration, or Response. The other fields are still visible and the Quantitate tool is still available.

STEP 5

STEP 5

If we then disable Allow Calibration & Quantitation in Review, what happens? The Quantitate button is no longer available. No change to what can be seen in the Peaks table.

STEP 6

STEP 6

Finally, what happens if we disable View Numerical and Textual Results in Review, so that all three privileges have been disabled? The Peaks table is no longer visible.

It’s that easy!
