Empower Tip: User Management

This tip we will discuss what happens when the new User logs in to Empower for the first time.

Let’s see how it’s done!

The first time the new User logs in to Empower, their password is identical to their ‘User Name’.

When the User clicks ‘OK’, a new screen appears prompting the User to create a new password.

The selection for a ‘Project and Chromatographic System’ appears.

Once the selections are made, Empower opens with the ‘QuickStart’ interface.

Why did Empower open with the QuickStart interface? If you look at the ‘User Properties’, you’ll see the User had access to both the ‘QuickStart Interface’ and the ‘Pro Interface’. The default User Interface is set to ‘System Default’. What does that mean?

If you look at the ‘System Policies’, specifically for ‘User Account’, we see the ‘Global Default User Interface’ is set to ‘QuickStart’ which explains why the QuickStart Interface opened.

How would the User select the Pro interface? When the User enters their User Name and Password, before clicking ‘OK’ they would click ‘Advanced’. This opens a dialogue that allows the User to select other ‘Allowed User Interfaces’.
