Tip #430: Understanding how to Display UV Spectra when Working with 3D PDA Data

In this week’s tip for Empower Chromatography Data System Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS), we will answer a question from an Empower User.

QUESTION:

Normally when I bring 3D PDA data into Review and integrate the chromatogram, the spectra for the integrated peaks automatically appear in Spectrum Review. Recently, I repeated these steps, and no spectra appeared. I needed to use the Extract Spectrum tool to manually view the spectra. Why is this happening?

Great question. Let’s find out.

STEP 1

STEP 1

If you are using a PDA Processing Method and integrate the peaks, the spectra for the peaks automatically appear in Spectrum Review. NOTE: the Info. field displays the Peak Name.

STEP 2

STEP 2

If you are using an LC Processing Method and integrate the peaks, the spectra will not appear in Spectrum Review.

STEP 3

STEP 3

If you are working with an LC Processing Method, you can use the Extract Spectrum tool to manually extract spectra for the peaks. NOTE: the Info. field displays Extracted.

It’s that easy!
