Tip #158: Using Filters in the Report Methods

Tip #158: Using Filters in the Report Methods

In this tip, we will learn about using filters in the Report Method. There may be times when you want to report the results for peaks in the chromatogram or report the results for samples in the Result Set. Using filters, you can summarize the information of interest.

STEP 1 From Tip 157, view the summary table with three peaks. ‘Uracil’ is a void volume marker and so we would like to filter it out of the report.

STEP 2

STEP 2

In the Report Publisher window, click on the composite group and from the Edit menu choose ‘Composite Properties’.

STEP 3

STEP 3

On the ‘Order By’ tab, click the ‘Data Filtering Conditions’ button to open the Data Filtering Conditions window.

STEP 4

STEP 4

Expand Peaks from the ‘Available Fields’ list, select ‘Name’ by highlighting and Click the ‘>> button’ to add it to the table.

STEP 5

STEP 5

Click in the ‘Condition 1’ field and a new dialogue box opens. From the drop-down list select ‘Not Equals’ and in the field to the right type in the name of the Peak. Click ‘OK’. Note: the peak name must match what was entered in the Component table of the Processing Method and it is case-sensitive.

STEP 6

STEP 6

You now have a condition that is ‘Name not equal to Uracil. Click ‘OK’.

STEP 7

STEP 7

Click ‘OK’ to the Composite Properties and return to the Preview window. The peak named ‘Uracil’ has been filtered out of the summary table.

It’s that easy!

Final Notes

This procedure can be followed using the QuickStart or Pro interface.
