In this tip, we will answer a question from an Empower user.
QUESTION:
How is Vial ID generated and what are some instances where the Vial ID changes?
Great question. Let me begin by saying Vial ID may be a misnomer. Let’s think of it more as a Sample ID.
Let’s review.
You can create a View Filter on either the Injections tab or Channels tab of the Project window which displays Vial ID. When does the Vial ID get created?
If we create or load an existing Sample Set Method into the Run Samples window and then collect the data, we will generate a Sample Set.
If we view the Sample Set as Channels, we see the Injection ID, the Channel ID, and the Vial ID.
The Vial ID is associated with a row in the Sample Set. If we make any changes to the Sample rows in Alter Sample, then the Vial ID will change. In this example, we changed the Sample Weight for all samples from 1 to 10.
Once those changes are saved, we now see that the Vial ID has been updated for the Samples in this Sample Set.
It’s that easy!
