Empower Tip: Importance of Keeping your Laboratory Software Current

In this tip on the importance of staying current with the latest versions of your laboratory software, we will discuss new features in both Empower and NuGenesis Software.

Let’s get started.

From Empower 3.6.1 to 3.8.0, we added more detailed privileges so that User Types can be customized at a more granular level. This applies to Empower Administrators who have very specific roles and people working in the laboratory.

STEP 2Staying current with the various Pharmacopeias is very important in many laboratories. In Empower 3.7.0, we added the calculations for the Chinese Pharmacopeia and in Empower 3.8.0 we revised the calculations and nomenclature for the USP calculations to comply with the changes made to USP Chapter <621> on chromatography.

STEP 3A privilege which has existed for a while is “View Quantitation Peak Fields in Review”. If a User does not have this privilege, then fields such as Area, Height, Amount, and Concentration, etc., were not visible in Review.

STEP 4Starting with Empower 3.8.1, we expanded the types of fields which are not visible in Review without the privilege mentioned in Step 3, such as CE quantitation fields and Custom Fields. Furthermore, you are prevented from adding these fields to the peak labels.

STEP 5The list of fields which are hidden has been expanded to include dissolution fields and CE fields, amongst others.

Starting with Empower 3.9.0, we made a change to the privilege “View Numerical and Textual Results in Review”. If you do not have the privilege, you can bring a Result into Review and the Peaks tab is present with the appropriate fields.

If you make a change, such as manually integrate a peak, the Peaks tab is no longer visible.

If you save the Result, then the Peaks tab appears with the new values. This is tracked in the Project Audit Trail.

In NuGenesis 9.4.0, we added more granular permissions on the NuGenesis Lab Management side. The roles of "edit a test" and "enter a result" were separated out from the “Test Operations” privilege. A new privilege called “Enter Results” was created. This means that a user can have the ability to enter results but not to edit the test specification.

NuGenesis 9.4.0 introduced a new auto integrity check for the NuGenesis LMS forms. A check is performed in the background for several scenarios, for example if the Audit Trail information differs to what is present on the NuGenesis LMS form. The Form metadata will then display the relevant message.

NuGenesis 9.4.0 has a new NuGenesis SDMS Data Adapter 7. It includes a new feature to delete archived empty Empower Projects in Empower.
