Empower Tip: Calculating Amount/Concentration

Empower Tip: Calculating Amount/Concentration

Tip #280: Calibration Curve Fit Types: Quadratic Fit

Tip #280: Calibration Curve Fit Types: Quadratic Fit

In this tip for Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS), we continue our series on Calculating Amount/Concentration, Calibration Curve fit types, and review Quadratic Fit.

STEP 1

STEP 1

For a Quadratic Fit, Empower performs a least-squares fit of a quadratic polynomial to the calibration points. A minimum of 5 points is recommended.

STEP 2

STEP 2

The Quadratic Fit generates a Calibration Curve that is represented by the equation in figure 2.

STEP 3

STEP 3

Calculating amount or concentration in the sample is determined by solving for X in the equation. Empower only reports positive values of X that are within the range of the Calibration Curve.

STEP 4

STEP 4

Calibration Curves can be accessed in various ways, for example:

Review – bring a result into Review and click on the Calibration Curve tool

Compare – right click on a curve from the Curves tab in the project and select Compare

It’s that easy!

Final Notes

This can be done with either the Pro or QuickStart interface.
