In this tip, we continue the series this week and the topic of reporting Results. This tip continues from Empower tip of the week Tip 461.
Right click on a Result for a SEC-MALS sample and select Preview/Publisher, in this case it is a Result for a NIST mAb sample. When the Open Report Method dialogue opens, select the Use following Report Method radio button and an appropriate Report Method from the list. In this case I selected the Sample Analysis Report Method. Click OK.
The Preview window opens. This Report Method consists of a Sample Information group, a chromatogram, a MALS Data Plot and a Peaks Table. This is a 2 page report.
To modify the Report Method, click the Close tool.
This opens the Report Publisher window in which we can modify our Report Method. The list on the left represents different types of report groups which can be added to the Report Method. Note the MALS Groups which are towards the end of the list. The area to the right illustrates the layout of the Report Method. It is in this area that we can modify the exiting Report Method.
The MALS Groups consist of Data Plots, Distribution Plots, Distribution Tables and Instrument Standardization for documenting the normalization constants.
To modify the chromatogram, right click on the group and select Chromatogram Properties.
There are many different aspects of the chromatogram which can be modified such as the scaling. In this case we click on the Peak Labels tab to adjust the placement of the label. The default is Auto Fit to Peak.
We change it to At Peak Start so that we can better see the peak apex and click OK.
To modify the peaks table, right click on the group and select Table Properties.
There are many peak fields which can be added to the table amongst which are the MALS peak fields which include such things as Mw and Polydispersity.
We can add Area to the table by expanding the Peak selection, highlighting Area in the list and click on the >> tool. Click OK.
Click the Print Preview tool to view the changes made to the Report Method.
The Peak Label has been moved to the start of the peak and Area has been added to the Peak Table.
It’s that easy!
