Tip #213: Interpreting Combined Injection and Channel Status Fields in Empower

In this tip, we will continue our discussion on Injection and Channel Status Fields and review interpreting combined Injection and Channel Status for our data.

I recommend looking at injection logs and processing codes along with the injection and channel status to troubleshoot data acquisition issues. If you bring data into Review and there is no chromatogram, only an error message, use the error message to help troubleshoot that issue as well.

STEP 1

STEP 1

For your reference, the following table provides an explanation of why certain combinations of injection and channel status may happen. This is a good troubleshooting tool (figures 1-3).

Let’s look at an example.

STEP 2

STEP 2

In this view, the Injection Status is ‘Incomplete’ and the Channel Status is ‘Data Incomplete’. Looking back at figure 3, you can see possible causes for this scenario.

STEP 3

STEP 3

You can verify the Incomplete data, right click (in this case in the Contour Plot) and select ‘Verify Incomplete Data’.

STEP 4

STEP 4

Click ‘Display Data’ to view the chromatogram.

STEP 5

STEP 5

The chromatogram is now visible. If you want to keep the chromatogram, click ‘Complete Data’.

STEP 6

STEP 6

The Channel Status has now changed to ‘Verified as Complete’ and you’ll notice that 1.5 minutes of the data is displayed with a run time of 2.0 minutes.

STEP 7

STEP 7

The Channel Status is now updated in the Project Window as well.

It’s that easy!
